Find the Right Care Option

Every individual and family has different care needs. Here is how to work out yours.

The first step is understanding what type of support may be appropriate and whether the individual may qualify for available programs or insurance coverage.

1Who is the care for?

The four steps

  1. Identify the care need

Are you looking for pediatric care, adult home care, senior care, personal care, dementia support, respite care, companion care, mobility assistance, or outpatient services?

  2. Understand eligibility

Eligibility may depend on age, medical condition, disability, functional needs, Medicaid program requirements, insurance coverage, and other factors.

  3. Review insurance

Potential coverage may include Anthem, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Sentara Health Plans, Kaiser Permanente–Sentara partnership plans, Humana, and Virginia Premier / Better Health. Certain Virginia Medicaid programs may also apply.

  4. Speak with the appropriate care provider

Once needs, eligibility, and coverage are better understood, families can take the next step toward connecting with an appropriate qualified provider.
